Clutterbot

Overview

A robotics start up building an autonomous household robot to tidy and organize clutter for families.

As the product has not been launched I cannot publicly share detail or images of the work I did at Clutterbot. I can discuss further and share examples of my work in person.

For three years I worked at Clutterbot gaining valuable experience in product development. In the early stages I spent my time user focused, working closely with the potential customers and engineering teams, identifying and translating customer needs to product requirements. In 2022 I was promoted to Product team lead. In this role I was able to build up a successful team and together we were able to quantify and detail the target market, their needs and environment and use this to scope the project, while supporting development, testing prototypes, creating a product vision and continuously discovering. With the companies rapid growth and changing needs in 2023 I was trained as a Product Manager where my focus was on modern product discovery techniques, opportunity mapping and prioritisation.

Product Design.

For the first 18 months I was the sole designer and as a result gained valuable experience across the entire product development cycle. After the discovery phase, and mapping the end to end user experience, I would regularly communicate insights to the team before testing with customers to get feedback to ensure solutions were providing value.

  • Created Personas

  • Concept generation & testing

  • Ran company wide ideation workshops

  • Created/owned Product Design Specifications

  • Created JTBD

  • Mapping customer journey

  • Scenario story boarding

  • Created framework to define design principals

Product Management.

As a product manager I worked at the intersection of business, customer and design. Modern product discovery, opportunity mapping and prioritization was at the heart of what I did before creating product design requirements for both software and hardware products. I was then able to take these opportunities and lead cross-functional teams through Sprints, while upskilling others around the business on these processes.

  • Opportunity identification and prioritization

  • Running cross functional teams through sprints

  • Help business create product vision and strategy

  • Worked with Engineering team leads to help priorities lower level tasks and create epics

Creative HQ.

While at Clutterbot I got to be part of Creative HQ’s ‘Innovation Incubator’. For six months I worked amongst several start-up companies at various stages of development. This experience allowed me to grow my network in Wellington, while collaborating with other product designers and developers. During this time I attended workshops and completed courses through their School of Innovation.
